Upsurge in the Sales Volume of Carrot

In 2006-2010, carrot croppage in the world increased by 9%: from 26 to 29 million tons. The biggest annual growth of carrot croppage, compared to the previous years, was registered in 2009, and it amounted to 4%. The market showed decrease in production volume of carrot, compared to the previous years, only in 2007, and it equaled 1%. In 2006-2010, China was the leader by the carrot croppage volume.  The share of China of the carrot croppage in the world fluctuated between 33% in 2006 and 35% in 2007. Despite the fact that China occupies the leading position in the production volume of carrot, the rate of per capita carrot production in China is not high.

In 2006-2010, the sales volume of carrot in the world went up by 11%: from 24 million tons to 27 million tons. In 2010, almost every fifth purchase of carrot was made in China (around 9 million tons).About 6% of all the carrot produce in the world were sold in Russia and around 5% in the USA. In 2011-2015, according to BusinesStat estimates, the sales of carrot in the world will rise on the average by 3% annually. In 2015, the sales volume of carrot in the world will exceed 30 million tons.

The upsurge in the sales volume of carrot in the world is primarily stipulated by the population size growth, which leads to the stepping-up of production, due to the increasing demand. Carrot root crops contain fitoen, carotenes, licopin, phytofluen, and also ascorbic and pantothenic acid in small amounts, anthicianidins, flavonoids, ethereal oil, umbelliferon, ornithine and other essential elements. Moreover, carrot is considered to be dietetic product. People consume fresh and boiled carrot, they preserve and dry it, and add it to different dishes. Carrot juice is used in the baby food sector, and also as medicine against anemia and hypertension.  The carrot seeds contain ethereal oil, which is used in the liquor and cosmetics production.   Carrot is a very valuable feedstuff for the cattle, in particular, for pedigree cattle, young cattle and poultry.
