Demand for Gluten in Russia Went Up

In 2007-2011, demand for gluten in Russia went up by 56 %, i.e. from 12 to 18 thousand tons. Demand decrease by 2 % compared to the previous years was noticed only in 2009. It happened due to the drop in the export delivery volume from Russia by 0.4 thousand tons compared to 2008. The maximal demand growth (by 26 %) compared to the previous years was registered in 2008.  Increase I demand was primarily conditioned by export rise by almost 3 thousand tons.

Till 2009 gluten in Russia had been mainly distributed in the domestic market. In 2010-2011, export deliveries accounted for the largest share in the demand pattern, which amounted to 56 % and 53 % relatively.

In 2007-2011, the actual sales volume of gluten in Russia went up by 2 %, i.e. from 8.3 thousand tons to 8.5 thousand tons. Decrease in the sales volume by 7 % compared to the previous years was noticed in 2010. The main reason for that was the export volume growth from Russia to Norway, which equaled 4 thousand tons compared to 2009. In the next years, according to BusinesStat estimates the sales volume of gluten in the Russian market will increase, and in 2016 it will reach almost 12 thousand tons.
