The Russian Cast Iron Market Began to Emerge from the Crisis.
In 2006-2009, the key figures of the Russian iron-cast market were decreasing. During this period the volume of cast iron production went down by 15.9%, the export volume decreased by 23.3%, and the import volume lowered to zero mark. In 2009 the domestic cast iron sales were down to 40.5 million tons.
It should be pointed out that Russia is one of the largest cast iron exporters. Its share of the total export volume on the world market is equal to 30%.
Major Russian cast iron exporters are JSC Tulachermet, JSC LMZ Svobodnij Sokol, JSC Uralskaja Stal, JSC Novokuzneckij MK, JSC Kosogorskij MZ, and JSC Novolipeckij MK. In 2009 the share of these companies in the total volume of cast-iron export amounted to 95%.
In 2010, the Russian cast iron market began to gradually emerge from the crisis: the sales volume increased by 3.7 million tons compared to the previous year. In 2011-2015, according to BusinesStat estimates, the growth of the sales volume will continue, but the acceleration will decrease from year to year. All-in-all, compared to 2010, the sales volume will increase by 14.1% for the whole period.
