The Production Volume of Flax-Fiber Decreased
In 2006-2010, the production volume of flax-fibre in Russia went down by almost 30%: from 34.7 thousand tons in 2006 to 24.2 thousand tons in 2010. The slump in flax-fibre production in Russia in this period was stipulated by several factors: decrease in demand in the textile industry, negative profitability of production, caused by the technological underdevelopment and increase in costs, and also by ineffectiveness of the departmental target program - Development of the flax-fibre Complex in Russia in 2008-2010, made by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation
All in all, according to BusinesStat analysis, 19 constituent entities were serving the production process. During this time the Novosibirsk region was occupying the leading position, the second place was taken by the Altai territory. In 2010, the total production share of these two constituent entities of the overall flax-fibre production amounted to 60%.
