Tools for Metalworking and Woodworking Account for the Major Share of the Toolmaking Industry
In 2006-2008, the sales volume of tools went up from 127.8 million units to 161.9 million units. In 2009, the sales volume decreased by 23.4%, compared to the previous year. The main reason of the sales reduction was demand recession. The latter was stipulated by the financial crisis, which had undermined the industry. In 2010, the industrial production began to recover after the crisis, and consequently, the sales volume of tools in Russia increased by 8.7%, compared to 2009. In 2011-2015, the instrument sales will rise by 4.0-7.5% per annum.
Tools for metalworking and woodworking account for the major share of the toolmaking industry. In 2010, the total share of the sales of these tools amounted to 75.6-82.6% of the total sales volume of tools in Russia.
In 2006-2010, cost volume of sales in the toolmaking industry went up by 65.2%: from 67.0 billion rubles to 110.7 billion rubles. In 2011-2015, according to BusinesStat estimates, cost volume of sales will continue to increase, and by 2015 it will have reached 199.0 billion rubles. Growth of the cost volume of sales is stipulated by the steadily rising prices for tools. From 2006 up to 2010 the average selling price in the toolmaking industry has increased by 56.6%: from 524.3 rubles per unit to 821.0 rubles per unit.
