Demand for Oil Coke in Russia is Growing

Oil coke is in short supply on the Russian market. Oil coke is used in some fields of industrial production: it is essential for the non-ferrous metallurgy, generally for aluminum production, it is used in the production of carbon electrodes and dye pigments, it is a valuable source of heat (because of its high heating value) and is widely used as residual oil. Currently a considerable part of oil coke is supplied from abroad: the import ratio equals about 30% of the overall supplies on the Russian market.

Between 2006 and 2010 the demand for oil coke increased by 260.8 thousand tons, and in 2010 it reached 1.9 million ton. А sales slowdown by 3.8% was registered only in 2009, as the consumer industries, in particular the non-ferrous metallurgy, reduced procurement during the crisis.

According to the BusineStat estimates, demand for oil coke will continue to rise in the next few years.
