Per Capita Cnsumption Volume of Mustard Went Up

In 2011, according to BusinesStat estimates, supply of mustard amounted to 13.1 thousand tons, i.e. by 3.4 thousand tons more, than in 2006. In 2006-2010, supply increased by 1.9-23.9% per annum.

The only exception was registered in 2007, when supply of mustard went down by 5.1%. Decrease in mustard supply in 2007 was conditioned by the drop in output. Decline in production was caused by decrease in the collection volume of raw materials (mustard seeds).

In 2006-2010, demand for mustard went up by 22.2%, and equaled 10.2 thousand tons. In 2011-2013, according to Businesstat estimates, demand for mustard will rise by 4.1%, and then in 2014-2015 an insignificant drop will take place.  Thus, in 2015 the demand volume of mustard will reach 10.8 thousand tons. Mustard is a traditional product for the Russian consumers, therefore the stagnation beginning will be conditioned by the high level of market penetration of the product. In 2015, 75% of Russian people will consume mustard.

In 2006-2010, per capita consumption volume of mustard went up from 75 grams per annum to 91 grams per annum.
