In 2010-2014 Tea Sales Are Expected to Be In Stagnation
Tea is a traditional product in Russia and an integral part of the Russian daily diet. Almost 96% of the population consume this product. However, during the period from 2005 to 2009 demand for tea decreased from 186.7 thousand tons to 173.1 thousand tons, because the range of other beverages in the Russian market expanded really much. So, the reason for the decrease in demand is connected not with the refusal to consume tea, but with the appearance of other daily consumed beverages.
During the period from 2005 to 2009 the supply of tea in Russia grew down by 7.3 thousand tons – from 223.2 thousand tons to 215.9 thousand tons. Production contributes to the supply of tea to the maximum.
According to BusinesStat estimates, in 2010-2014 tea sales are expected to be in stagnation, for the Russian market is saturated, and nearly the whole population of the country consumes this product. Consumption level of tea may be improved by means of increasing average per capita consumption.
