The Most Expensive Type of Caviar in the Russian Market is Canned Caviar
According to BusinesStat estimates, in 2010, demand for caviar in Russia went up by 1.9%, compared to 2009 and reached 53.5 thousand tons. In the preceding years due to the turn of market the manufacturers had to level up prices for the products rapidly, which amid the economic crisis led to the decrease in the sales volume.
The most expensive type of caviar in the Russian market is canned caviar, the price for which amounts to 1330 rubles per kilogram, the cheapest caviar type is the frozen caviar, the price for which equals 195.5rubles per kilogram. In 2010, the average price for 1 kilogram of caviar totaled 1246.1 rubles.
In Russia 16.5% of the population consume caviar. The average expenditure level for caviar amounts to 608.5 rubles per consumer per annum.
