Demand for Condensed Milk in Russia Dropped

During the period from 2006 to 2010 the volume of production of condensed milk products in Russia reached its minimum value of 304 thousand tons in 2007 and its maximum value of 349 thousand tons in 2010. The average volume of production of condensed milk products during this period equaled 333 thousand tons. In 2010 the Belgorod, Omsk, Smolensk, Orel and Kursk Regions were the leaders in manufacture of condensed milk products at the federal level. Their share amounted to 61% of the total volume of production

According to BusinesStat analysis, the Russian market of condensed milk products is characterized by the concentration of production facilities in the Central Federal District. Thus, in 2010 over 54% of Russian products were manufactured in the Central Federal District.

During the period from 2006 to 2010 the volume of sales of condensed milk products in Russia fell from 364 thousand tons in 2006 to 359 thousand tons in 2010. The reason for the drop in sales lay in the stagnation of consumption. Condensed milk products are traditionally popular in the country, but the maximum parameters of demand for condensed milk products are now in the past.
