Sales of Chocolate and Sugar Confectionery Will Go Up

Chocolate and sugar confectionery are traditional Russian products, occupying almost half of the confectionery market in sector of the actual sales volume. The other half of the market is occupied by the pastry.

In 2010, the production volume of different chocolate types and confectionery in Russia increased by 12.3 %, compared to 2006, and amounted to 1,318.1 thousand tons.

Chocolates account for the major share of the sales volume of chocolate and sugar confectionery. Its share accounts steadily for 42-45 % of the total volume. In 2010, the sales volume of chocolates was equal to 656.8 thousand tons.

In 2006-2010, the sales of marmalade-pastille products, cacao drinks and halvah showed the most active growth, compared to other types of sugar confectionery. The sales of marmalade-pastille products rose by 53%, cacao drinks by 38 %, and halvah sales by 28.8 %.

In 2011-2015, according to BusinesStat estimates, the sales of chocolate and sugar confectionery will go up, and by 2015 the sales volume will have reached 1,617.3 thousand tons.
