Russian Moms Trust Manufacturers of Baby Food

During the period from 2005 to 2008 the volume of baby food sales in Russia increased. In 2009-2010 the growth gave way to a decline, caused by an upsurge in prices for basic groups of baby food.

In 2011 the sales will resume their growth. The market growth is stimulated not only by the increase in the share of consumers, but also by the changes in the culture of baby food consumption. Parents are beginning to buy manufactured baby products more often and tend to trust that manufacturers produce high-quality and safe food.

The leader of the baby food market in Russia is the juice segment. In 2009 its share exceeded 60% of the total baby food sales.According to BusinesStat estimates, by 2014 the volume of baby juice sales will have increased by 11.6% from 2009, having amounted to 1.7 million tons. The reason of domination of juices in the market lies in the large number of juice consumers. Unlike baby cereals, infant formulas, baby canned meat, fruit and vegetables, baby juices are also consumed by grown-ups, because many of them believe that juice manufactured especially for infants is of higher quality.
