Machine-Made Fabric Produce Accounts for the Major Share in the Sales of Carpets and Carpet Goods

Russian carpet market has good prospects, as the increase in the house building volume creates opportunities for surge in demand for carpets and carpet goods.

The sales volume of carpets and carpet goods in Russia had been growing till 2008, having reached 42.5 million square meters. In 2009, amid the crisis the sales volume of carpets went down to 33.1 million square meters.

The customers put off the purchase of carpets as well as the purchase of furniture, interior objects, household appliances, and construction materials. Generally, home products are being changed while moving or apartment remodeling, but the real estate market was frozen amid the crisis.

From 2010 the sales increase has resumed and this trend will not change in the foreseeable future. By 2015, according to BusinesStat estimates, the sales volume will have increased up to 43.6 million square meters. Although, keen demand will mainly compensate differed demand during the crisis. Generally, the carpet market is stagnating under pressure of the competitive floor covering market, and primarily the industrial carpet market.  

Machine-made fabric produce accounts for the major share in the sales of carpets and carpet goods. It provides more than 49% of the market turnover. In 2010, the sales of machine-made fabric carpets amounted to 16.9 million square meters.
