The Sales Volume of Asphalt and Petroleum Bitumen will Continue to Increase
The Russian market of asphalt and petroleum bitumen is greatly dependant on the road building situation in Russia. In 2009, amid the financial crisis, funding of the road building was significantly reduced because of the government deficit. Due to this fact the sales volume of asphalt and petroleum bitumen decreased by 28.8%, compared to the previous year. That year the domestic producers had to cut back output of asphalt and petroleum bitumen by 36%-to 32.9 million tons.
In 2010, the Russian market of asphalt and petroleum bitumen began to emerge from the crisis gradually: the sales volume went up by 1.2 million tons, compared to the previous year. In 2011-2015, according to our estimates, the sales volume will continue to increase, and by 2015 it will have reached 49.2 million tons.
