The Corn Yield for Grain will Increase.

In 2006-2010, the corn planting acreage in Russia increased by 15%: from 2.5 million hectares to 2.9 million hectares. According to BusinesStat estimates, by 2015, corn planting acreage will have gone up to 3.1 million hectares.

In 2010, corn yield decreased dramatically because of the drought. This way, in 2006-2009, the average corn yield for grain equaled 31.3 centner per hectare, and in 2010 corn yield reduced to 21.8 centner per hectare. In 2011-2015, the corn yield will increase by 2% annually, on the average, but corn yield for silage, green feed and haylage, on the contrary, will decrease by 1.5% per annum, on the average. Increase in the corn yield for grain is connected with the intensive development of farming. By 2015 corn yield for grain will have been equal to 23.8 centner per hectare.

In 2015, the corn yield volume in Russia will amount to 15.3 million tons, including 25% of corn for grain and 75% of corn for silage, green feed and haylage.
