The Barley Planting Acreage will Increase.

From 2006 to 2010 the barley planting acreage in Russia was ever-decreasing.   This way, barley planting acreage equaled 9.9 million hectares in 2006, and in 2010 barley planting acreage totaled only 7.2 million hectares. In 2010, barley yield decreased dramatically because of the drought. This way, from 2006 to 2009 the average annual yield of barley amounted to 19.5 centner per hectare, but in 2010 it went down to 11.6 centner per hectare.

According to BusinesStat estimates, the barley planting acreage in Russia will have increased to 9.3 million hectares by 2015, but it will not reach the pre-crisis level.  In the coming years the barley yield will go up, due to nonuse of acres, that does not fit for tillage. By 2015 the average barley yield will have amounted to 21 centner per hectare.

In 2015, the barley yield volume in Russia will amount to 160 thousand tons, including 40% of food barley, 38% of feed barley, and 22% of special barley, primarily, malting barley.
