The Sales Volume of Construction Equipment in Russia Will Go Up

In 2009-2010, demand for construction equipment in Russia decreased. It was conditioned by financing reduction and building freeze amid the financial crisis. In 2010, the sales of construction equipment went up by 11.2 thousand units, compared to 2009, but went down by 60.7%, compared to 2008.

In 2006-2010, cost volume of the construction equipment market increased by 1.6 times. In 2006-2009, due to the steadily rising prices, market turnover dynamic of the construction equipment was higher than the market dynamic in volume terms. In 2010, despite price drop the market turnover increased due to the sales growth in volume terms.

In 2006-2010, the share of domestic construction equipment equaled 40% of the total sales volume in physical terms. Larger volume of imported produce in the Russian market is mainly stipulated by lower prices for imported equipment, which is secondary used, as a rule.

In 2011-2015, according to BusinesStat estimates the sales volume of construction equipment in Russia will go up on the average by 16.6% in volume terms and in 2015, it will reach 56.6 thousand units.

Sales of Construction Equipment in the CIS are Increasing

In 2010, production of construction equipment in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) totaled 17.5 thousand units. In 2011-2015 it will be annually increasing by 18.7-6.4%. By 2015 it will have reached 28.6 thousand units. The growth of production is backed up by a high level of deterioration, low degree of completeness of construction companies and lower price compared to the imported products.

According to the estimates of BusinesStat, in 2010 sales of construction equipment in the CIS amounted to 84.4 thousand units, having increased by 37.6 thousand units compared to 2009. In 2011-2015 sales will be increasing on average by 15.2% annually following the growth of demand. The construction equipment market of the CIS is subject to import. The countries of the region import much more construction equipment than export it.

The greatest volume of sales of construction equipment falls on Russia, the share in the total sales in the CIS of which varied from 35.1% to 66.4% between 2006 and 2010.
