Output of Fat and Oil Production in the CIS Countries Rose
In 2007-2011, output of fat and oil production in the CIS countries rose except for 2008. According to BusinesStat, the volume of output of fat and oil production in the CIS countries reached 9.83 million tons. The leading producers of the fat and oil industry among the CIS countries in this 5-year period were Russia and Ukraine, which share equaled 87.3% of the total volume of output of all fat and oil production in the CIS countries in 2011.
In 2007-2011, the factor that influenced the growth of output was a positive dynamics of demand for fat and oil production. Thus, in 2007-2011, sales of fat and oil production in the CIS countries advanced by 9.6%. Sales of fat and oil production decreased by 2.3% only in 2009, which was because of the fall of the volume of products, consumed by the population of the CIS countries.
Manufacture of Oil and Fat Products in Russia Reduced
During the period from 2006 to 2009 the volume of production of oil and fat products in Russia increased by 16%. In 2010, it reduced to 3.8 million tons, which had been caused by a decrease in the volume of production of main oil and fat products: margarine, vegetable oil and butter. The cutback in production was connected with reduction of demand for vegetable oil and accumulation of a significant volume of stocks. In 2010, demand for vegetable oil fell from both, industrial enterprises and the retail sector. The volume of consumption increased only in the HoReCa sector, induced by an increase in sales in the public catering sector. Manufacture of oil and fat products in Russia is targeted, first of all, at the local market. The share of export in the volume of demand averages 16%.
The volume of sales of oil and fat products in Russia increased by 19% from 2006 to 2009. The sales dropped insignificantly only in 2010, when the volume of sales of oil and fat products in the country equaled 4.4 million tons.
The growth rate of the market turnover of the oil and fat industry exceeds that of the actual volume of the market. From 2006 to 2010 the market turnover increased by 75%. The growth of the revenue from sales is connected, in the first instance, with a rise in prices for oil and fat products. From 2006 to 2010 the average price for 1 kilogram of oil and fat products in Russia rose from 41 rubles per kilogram to 64 rubles per kilogram.
