Demand for Yoghurts Will Be Steadily Growing
In 2006-2008, the Russian yoghurt market was growing steadily. The economic crisis of 2009 slowed down its rates of growth and asserted influence over the purchasing power of the population. In 2010, the volume of yoghurt sales went down by 4.4 % and totaled 737 thousand tons.
In 2011-2015, according to BusinesStat estimates, demand for yoghurt will be steadily growing and by 2015 it will have reached the point of 815 thousand tons. Yoghurt is a relatively cheap and healthy product that is why amid the income recovery the yoghurt market will begin to grow again.
Consumer share of yoghurt of the population size is steadily increasing after both the expendable income growth and the popularization of healthy lifestyle. In 2010, consumer share of yoghurt accounted for 41.5 % of the Russian population size, and by 2015 it will have reached 46 %.
In 2006-2010, the most popular packaging type has remained plastic container. Share of yoghurt packed in plastic containers is steadily growing and by 2015 it will have reached 46 %.
