The Sales Volume of Saccharides in the CIS will Increase

Saccharides (fructose, lactose, maltose, dextrose, etc) are organic compounds, based on the molecules of the sugars. The confectionary and baking industries are the main consumers of saccharides. Saccharides are widely used in the production of canned fruits, frozen fruits, ice-cream, alcoholic and soft drinks.

The saccharides sales reached their ceiling in 2007, and totaled 141.8 thousand tons. The sales volume was growing in response to the food industry development in the region.

Due to the crisis the sales volume of saccharides began to decrease: in 2009 the sales volume went down by 27.5%, compared to 2007, and equaled 102.8 thousand tons. The reduction in sales volume was connected with the decrease in demand in the food industry.

In 2010, after the crisis, the sales volume of saccharides began to rise and reached 110.2 thousand tons. In the foreseeable future, according to BusinesStat estimates, the sales volume of saccharides in the CIS will continue to grow.
